Calgary Chapter Education Event – Vaccinations for Older Adults

We invite AGNA members to join us for an interesting evening of learning and discussion about vaccines, on Tuesday, October 29th. Our guest speaker is a vaccine educator, and will review the most common types, and what's new this season. We will follow with a walkthrough of the competencies for a gerontological nurse, including the aging immune system, cognitive impairment, informed consent, and considerations for facility living. Calgary Certification Study Group Fall 2019

Happy August to our peers across the City of Calgary, as well as those across the Province. It is again the time of year when we look forward to Fall, and plan our professional development. The Calgary chapter of AGNA will again offer a Gerontology Peer Study Group for 8 weeks, with weekly meetings through September and October. Our information night will be held on August 15th, at 7pm. Calgary Study Group to Resume in Fall 2019

Dear AGNA members, we are so thankful for the support and interest shown for our certification study group in Calgary! There was not enough nurses requesting the spring session to create a full group, but we have been able to pair a few individuals preparing for the exam with mentors and access to help. Congratulations to Calgary Certification Study Group Members!

Congratulations go out to all the Fall 2018 Study group members who joined our pilot project in Calgary. Although we intended to start with just local peers, we were thrilled when a few members from other parts of the province joined us as well. I am so pleased to announce all 10 of our dedicated and hardworking group members passed the November CNA exam in Gerontology! We hope you will come and talk with us about how we all can support our peers in Gerontology at the May CGNA Conference.
